The Von der Decken's hornbill is a strikingly colored hornbill found in the dry savannas and bushlands of East Africa. Von der Decken's hornbills predominantly live in pairs or small groups and feed on insects, fruits, small reptiles, and seeds. They are considered skilled climbers and are often found in trees. Their breeding behavior is particularly interesting: during the breeding season, the female walls herself into a tree cavity and is fed by the male.
