The Canadian lynx is native to the vast forests of Canada and the northern United States. These impressive felines are pure carnivores, feeding primarily on small mammals and birds. Snowshoe hares, in particular, are among their preferred prey.

Although lynx are generally considered solitary, they have been observed hunting in pairs or even small groups on occasion. While the Canadian lynx is considered territorial, female territories may overlap, whereas male territories are more strictly defended.
