With an estimated global population of around 300,000 animals, it is one of the best-known wild animals. As a carnivore, the wolf hunts its prey independently, occasionally steals prey from other predators, or feeds on carrion. Its exceptional sense of smell helps it effectively track down prey.

Gray wolves are highly social animals that live in packs. Typically, these packs consist of 5 to 9 members who work closely together and have a clear hierarchy.
