Description

The Valais Blackneck goat is an ancient, robust goat breed from the canton of Valais. Its distinctive features include its striking bicolor coloring—jet black in the front and snow-white behind—and its long, curved horns. It is perfectly adapted to the harsh alpine climate and is traditionally used for milk and meat production, as well as for landscape maintenance.

Today it is considered a symbol of the cultural heritage of the Swiss mountain regions and is preserved and promoted through various breeding programs.
