Real Ibex Skull
Item Description
The Alpine ibex is arguably the most famous wild animal in the Swiss High Alps. It lives in rocky, steep mountain regions above the tree line and is perfectly adapted to the harsh alpine terrain. Its mighty, curved horns, which can grow up to one meter long in males, are typical. Females (does) have significantly smaller, thinner horns. This hardy animal moves with astonishing ease on almost vertical rock faces, a true climbing marvel. As late as the 19th century, the Alpine ibex was extinct in Switzerland but was successfully reintroduced – including in the Grisons National Park. Today, it stands as a symbol of wildlife protection and alpine freedom.
