Real Shrew Skull
Item Description
The special thing about shrews is that they have a completely different dentition than common mice and no proper gnawing teeth like rodents. Therefore, the shrew does not belong to the rodent family, but, like the hedgehog and the mole, to the insectivores. If you compare the two skulls (mouse skull), you can clearly see that the dentition is completely different from that of common mice.
Shrews are solitary animals, active day and/or night. They have poor eyesight but excellent hearing and smell. They are aggressive and some of them are poisonous. There are over 350 species of shrews, e.g. common shrews, house shrews, garden shrews, wood shrews, mole shrews, water shrews and desert shrews.
