Description
Cane rats are a large rodent species native to various regions of Africa. They are robustly built, have coarse brown fur and a distinctive white-spotted face. Cane rats mainly inhabit grasslands, swamps and agricultural areas, where they feed on grasses, reeds and various plant materials. In some African regions, they are hunted for their meat, which is considered a delicacy. However, due to their feeding habits, they are also considered agricultural pests.
