Description

The European roebuck is the male of the deer and is characterized by small, slender antlers that are shed and re-formed every year. European roebucks prefer to live in forests, but also in open landscapes with sufficient cover. They are usually solitary or live in small groups and feed mainly on grasses, herbs and shoots. They are particularly active at dusk. The antlers are used primarily for marking territory and for defense during the mating season.
