Description
The Chacma baboon is a species of Old World primate native to southern Africa. These animals are easily recognized by their distinctive long face and imposing size. Their fur varies in color from olive brown to gray and may occasionally have a coat of hair on the back.
Chacma baboons are highly adaptable and inhabit a wide variety of habitats, including savannas, forests and rocky regions. They live in social groups, usually led by a dominant male. As omnivores, their diet includes fruits, seeds, insects and even small vertebrates.
