Real shell sea turtle

The green sea turtle is one of the most well-known sea turtle species and lives in tropical and subtropical waters around the world. It is characterized by its streamlined, greenish-yellow shell, which gives it its name. Adults reach a length of 90 to 120 cm and weigh up to 230 kg. The green sea turtle is predominantly herbivorous and feeds mainly on seagrass and algae, which gives it an important role in marine ecosystems.

This turtle species is known for its long migrations and regularly returns to the same beach to lay its eggs. Unfortunately, the green sea turtle is endangered due to habitat loss, plastic pollution, illegal hunting and bycatch in fishing nets. It is listed as "Endangered" on the IUCN Red List and is strictly protected by the CITES agreement.
