Item Description
The Moorish tortoise belongs to the family Testudinidae and is native to Southeast Europe, North Africa, and parts of the Middle East. It is characterized by its oval, usually dark carapace, which has yellowish-brown to olive-colored patterns. The plastron is typically light with dark spots or stripes.
Typical for the Moorish tortoise is a horny spur on the tip of the tail, which, however, is not present in all individuals. It reaches a size of 15 to 25 cm, with females usually being slightly larger than males.
