Hippos are considered a protected species according to CITES II and are therefore protected. Nevertheless, animals are put on hunting lists every year to regulate the population, as the population has increased significantly in recent years. With the appropriate documents, it is therefore legal to import hippopotamus skulls.

Our specimens come exclusively from zoos with a confirmed origin. These animals have died either due to old age or due to natural circumstances. Instead of disposing of the carcasses, SWISSskulls buys them and processes them into exceptional collector's items - ideal for lovers of impressive skulls.

The skull itself is usually not particularly expensive. However, there are significant additional costs for transport, veterinary examinations and complex processing before it can even be made available for sale.
