Item Description

According to CITES II, hippos are considered a protected species and are therefore subject to species protection. Nevertheless, animals are placed on culling lists annually for population control, as their numbers have increased significantly in recent years. With the appropriate documents, it is therefore legal to import hippo skulls.

Our specimens come exclusively from zoos with confirmed provenance. These animals died either due to old age or natural causes. Instead of disposing of the carcasses, SWISSskulls acquires them and processes them into extraordinary collector's items – ideal for lovers of impressive skulls.

The skull itself is usually not particularly expensive. However, significant additional costs are incurred for transport, veterinary examinations, and the elaborate processing before it can even be made available for sale.
