Rhinoceros beetle (in picture frame)
Description
The rhinoceros beetle ( Dynastes hercules ) is an impressive species of beetle in the Scarabaeidae family. Males are particularly conspicuous due to the horn-like projection on their heads, which gives them their name. This species of beetle is native to tropical regions of the Americas, particularly Central and South America. Rhinoceros beetles are known for their strength and ability to move large loads. They play an important role in the ecosystem by decomposing organic material, thus aiding in nutrient cycling.
The beetle (approx. 10 x 17 cm) is mounted in a picture frame to show it off decoratively and to its best advantage. The light background further emphasizes the dark beetle. The picture frame has a size of 25 x 25 cm.
