Description
The human skull (cranium) consists of about 22 to 30 individual bones, most of which are held together by ossified seams, so-called sutures.
It is generally divided into two parts: Brain skull (neurocranium) – Protects the brain.
Facial skull (viscerocranium) – forms the basis for the face. The main function of the skull is to protect what is probably the most important organ in the human body – the brain.
