Otodus megalodon |
Real Megalodon Tooth
Description
The megalodon, whose name means "big tooth," was a gigantic shark species that lived in the Earth's oceans between 2.3 and 3.6 million years ago. One of the largest and most powerful fish that ever existed, the megalodon left a lasting mark on the history of marine fauna. Fossil finds indicate that this giant shark could reach an impressive body length of up to 18 meters, making it a true giant of the prehistoric seas.
With its massive jaws and unprecedented bite force of up to 18,000 kilograms, the Megalodon was well-equipped to hunt large prey. Its teeth were not only enormous, but also particularly thick and robust, perfect for catching prey and breaking even thick bones. These characteristics made it an apex predator in its era, at the top of the food chain. Despite its massive size and strength, the Megalodon disappeared millions of years ago, and its legacy lives on today only in fossils and scientific studies.
