Real mole skull
Description
The European mole belongs to the order of insectivores and is perfectly adapted to an underground life. With its powerful forelimbs, it digs extensive tunnel systems in which it hunts for worms, insect larvae, and other soil-dwelling animals.
The mole's skull is elongated and narrow, with a pointed snout that helps it navigate narrow tunnels. Its teeth are typical of insectivores: numerous small, pointed teeth perfectly suited to gripping and crushing its prey. The eyes are very small, as these animals navigate primarily through their sense of touch and smell.
Despite their small size, moles play an important role in the ecosystem by loosening the soil and regulating pests.
