The rhesus macaque is a medium-sized, highly adaptable monkey from Asia. It lives in large groups, exhibits complex social behavior, and can be found in forests, cities, and even temples. Rhesus macaques are omnivores and very intelligent.

They play a significant role in research – for instance, in the discovery of the Rhesus factor in blood. Their reddish-brown fur, bare pink buttocks, and strong social cohesion within the group are typical characteristics.
