The European carp is a widespread freshwater fish. Originally native to Eurasia, it has been introduced worldwide due to its importance as a food fish.
Carp are robust fish that live in slow-flowing or stagnant waters. They can grow up to 1 meter long and weigh over 20 kilograms. Their diet includes aquatic plants, algae and microorganisms that they pick up from the bottom. The animals are known for their adaptability and long life, which can be up to 20 years.
