Real Impala Skull
Description
The impala (Aepyceros melampus) is a graceful and swift species of antelope that lives in the open savannahs and forests of Africa. Male impalas have curved horns that can grow up to 90 cm long. These horns vary in colour, from dark to blond or lighter tones, depending on the individual. Female impalas have no horns.
An impala's skull is lightly built to aid speed and agility, and it has prominent eye sockets for good vision. Males' horns are hollow and made of keratin, similar to human hair or nails. They are often used for fighting over territory and females, making them an important part of male dominance in the herd.
