Real domestic goat skull

Goats are among mankind's oldest domestic animals and are indispensable, especially in the Alpine regions. Their surefootedness and frugality make them ideal for the steep, barren slopes of the mountains. For centuries, they have provided milk, meat, leather, and wool, thus making a significant contribution to Alpine self-sufficiency and culture.

A distinctive feature are their horns: They grow throughout their lives, are individually shaped, and reflect age, rank, and sometimes even breed. The impressively twisted horns of male goats, such as the Valais Blackneck goat, are not only functional for defense, but also a symbol of strength and primal nature.
