Today's domestic goose is widespread in Eurasia and North America. Like its relative, the duck, it is excellently adapted to life in the water. Its large webbed feet and dense, water-repellent plumage enable it to live in aquatic habitats. The goose's beak is ideally shaped to take in aquatic plants, macroinvertebrates, grains and occasionally small vertebrates.
