Flamingos live in shallow waters in regions such as Florida, the Caribbean, northern South America, and the Galapagos Islands. They are characterized by their exceptionally long legs and necks - the longest of any bird relative to their body size. Their unique beak and bristled tongue allow them to filter small pieces of food from the water while holding their beaks underwater.
