Real chinchilla skull
Description
Like all rodents, chinchillas have incisors that grow continuously throughout their lives. These so-called gnawing teeth grow continuously from the jaw and through the skull, wearing themselves down through constant gnawing. However, if chinchillas don't get enough hard food or suitable gnawing material, their teeth won't wear down sufficiently. This leads to malocclusion, excessive tooth growth, and can even affect the skull bone, posing a serious danger to the animal.
