Real beaver skull
Item Description
The European beaver (Castor fiber) is the largest rodent in Europe and is one of the most well-known native mammals. It reaches a head-body length of approximately 80 to 100 cm and a tail length of up to 35 cm. Adult animals typically weigh between 18 and 30 kg.
Typical characteristics of the European beaver include its dense, water-repellent fur, strong gnawing teeth, and broad, flattened tail. The beaver prefers to live in rivers, lakes, and wetlands, where it constructs impressive dams and lodges from branches, mud, and wood.
The European beaver has spread significantly in many European countries in recent years. Its intensive building activity sometimes leads to flooding and damage to water bodies, agriculture, and infrastructure. Because the beaver was protected for a long time and has few natural enemies, controlled population regulations have been introduced in some countries to maintain the balance between nature and humans.
