Description
The wildebeest (Connochaetes) are a genus of African antelopes that live in large herds and belong to the group (tribe) of the hartebeests. Blue wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus), also known as blue wildebeest, are antelopes from the genus of wildebeest that live in the savannahs of Africa.
The name of the animals comes from the language of the Khoikhoi - a collective term for culturally and linguistically related peoples in South Africa and Namibia.
