Description

The sika deer is a medium-sized deer species native to East Asia, characterized by its reddish-brown summer coat with white spots and the elegant antlers of the males. Native to Japan, China, and Korea, it has been successfully introduced to Europe, New Zealand, and North America. Sika deer are crepuscular, feed on grasses, leaves, and tree bark, and adapt well to diverse habitats. During the rutting season in autumn, males emit distinctive calls to attract females. Despite their beauty, they can be considered an invasive species in some regions.
