Description
The Barbary sheep is a wild goat from North Africa that lives in dry, rocky mountain regions. These animals are characterized by their sandy-colored fur, which provides camouflage, and their long, drooping mane on their throat and chest. Barbary sheep are extremely sure-footed and adapted to barren habitats, as they can survive for long periods without water. They feed mainly on grasses, herbs and leaves. Today they are partially threatened in their native habitat, but have been successfully naturalized in other parts of the world, such as the USA.
