Genuine Fallow Deer Antler
Item Description
Once a year, between early April and early May, the males shed their antlers, and a new set grows. While the new antlers are growing, they are covered with a velvety skin (velvet). When the antlers are fully grown, the velvet dies and hangs off in shreds. The animals remove these shreds by rubbing their antlers against the branches of trees and bushes â this is called "feging". This also changes the color of the antlers. They are initially light but become darker due to the plant sap.
