Item Description

The North American beaver (Castor canadensis) is the largest rodent in North America and a close relative of the European beaver. It reaches a head-body length of 90 to 120 cm and a tail length of up to 40 cm. Adult animals usually weigh between 16 and 32 kg, and in rare cases even up to 40 kg.

Unlike the European beaver, the North American beaver has more scale rows on its tail and differs slightly in skull structure and fur color.
It is known for its remarkable ability to build dams and plays an important role in North American wetland ecosystems.
