Real beaver pine
Description
The Canadian beaver (Castor canadensis) is the largest rodent in North America and a close relative of the European beaver. It reaches a head-body length of 90 to 120 cm and a tail length of up to 40 cm. Adults typically weigh between 16 and 32 kg, in rare cases even up to 40 kg.
In contrast to the European beaver, the Canadian beaver has more rows of scales on its tail and differs slightly in skull structure and fur color.
It is known for its keen ability to build dams and plays an important role in North American wetland ecosystems.
