Item Description

The European badger is a powerfully built mammal of the weasel family, widely distributed throughout Europe. It is characterized by its black and white facial mask, a stocky body, and strong forepaws perfectly adapted for digging. Badgers live in complex underground burrows, known as "setts," which can be used for many generations.

As an omnivore, the badger feeds on worms, insects, fruits, roots, and occasionally small vertebrates. It is primarily crepuscular and nocturnal, avoiding contact with humans. The badger plays an important role in the ecosystem by burrowing through the soil, thus contributing to its mixing.

Despite its adaptability, the badger is endangered by road traffic and habitat loss.
