Is the sale of protected animals legal?
Item Description
The northern giraffe is one of the rarest large animal species in Africa. It primarily inhabits savannas, open woodlands, and dry bushlands north of the equator. Its characteristic features include its long neck, its net-like or spotted coat pattern, and its horn-like cones called ossicones.
Due to habitat loss and poaching, the species is considered critically endangered in several subspecies. However, conservation programs in countries such as Niger, Chad, and Ethiopia have achieved initial successes in recent years.
